How fees work
We bill most PPO plans and some others, and not every plan. A plan may pay part of a chiropractic visit, all of it or none.
Most PPO plans
If you pay yourself
You pay at the visit. What sets the fee is the kind of visit, a full visit with an exam or a short adjustment-only visit. The front desk tells you the fee in your written estimate, and the doctor tells you the cost of care before it begins.
Receipts for reimbursement
Ask for an itemized receipt (a superbill) at any visit. You may send it to your plan, and the plan decides whether it pays any of it.
An estimate in advance
If you do not use insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. Ask us, and we give it to you in writing before your visit.
Checking your benefits
Call your plan before your first visit and ask what it pays for chiropractic care. Our front desk will help you read the answer, but the plan decides.
What the first visit includes
A talk, a hands-on exam, an explanation and a written estimate, in about 45 minutes. X-rays only when medically necessary.
Fees
Two kinds of visit
The fee depends on which one you have, and each says what it covers. The front desk tells you the fee in your written estimate.
Full visit
A talk, an exam of the area and the care your doctor recommends that day.
A talk with the doctor
A hands-on exam of the area
An adjustment, if the doctor recommends one
Soft tissue work or exercise guidance, as recommended
An itemized receipt
Adjustment-only visit
A short visit for a patient the doctor already knows who wants an adjustment and nothing else.
A short check-in with the doctor
An adjustment
An itemized receipt
Not included: an exam, soft tissue work or exercise guidance
X-rays are taken only when medically necessary, and we tell you what they cost and show them to you first.
Two more answers
Medicare
Medicare covers only manual spinal manipulation. Exams, x-rays and other services are not covered. If we think Medicare will not cover a service, we give you a written notice before you decide.
If you cannot make a visit
Call as early as you can so another patient can have your time. We do not charge a fee for a missed visit.
Ask for your estimate
The front desk gives it in writing before your visit.
