FAQ
Questions we hear
What happens at my first visit?
You check in at the front desk, talk with the doctor and have a hands-on exam. The doctor explains what they found and what a plan could look like, and you get the cost in writing before any care. X-rays are taken only when medically necessary. A first visit takes about 45 minutes.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Every kind of health care has some risk. Soreness after an adjustment is common and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported after neck adjustments, so your doctor explains the risks before any neck adjustment, and you may say no to any part of a visit. Some symptoms need a physician first: a sudden severe headache or neck pain, new weakness or numbness, chest pain, or loss of bladder or bowel control. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
Will an adjustment hurt?
Many people feel pressure and a stretch, and some feel sore for a day or so. The doctor chooses a technique that suits you, and we stop whenever you say so.
How many visits will I need?
Your doctor suggests a plan after the exam and changes it as you go. We do not promise a number of visits, and you may stop whenever you choose.
Do you take my insurance?
We bill most PPO plans and some others, and not every plan. A plan may pay part of a chiropractic visit, all of it or none. Call us before your first visit and we will tell you what we bill. The page on how fees work has the details.
What if I do not use insurance?
You pay for the visit you have. If you do not use insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. Ask us, and we give it to you in writing before your visit.
Do I need x-rays?
Not always. The doctor asks for x-rays only when they are medically necessary, and explains why before any are taken. When imaging is needed, we tell you the cost and show it to you first.
Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?
Children come with a parent or guardian, who stays for the visit. If you are pregnant, tell us at check-in and the doctor adapts how they work. We do not claim that chiropractic care treats any condition in a child or in pregnancy, and we encourage you to stay in touch with your pediatrician, midwife or OB.
What if I have seen another provider?
Tell us. With your written permission, we can ask for records from another provider or share ours. Care from more than one provider is common, and we will say so if we think you should see a physician first.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please call as early as you can if you cannot come, so another patient can have your time. We do not charge a fee for a missed visit.
